The exhibition “The Explorer in Love. Alberto Ferrero della Marmora and his Sardinia” in the Comunal Arts and Culture Centre Il Ghetto will run from the 26th of June till the 29 of November 2009. A collection of monographs and archeological exhibits from the scientific adventures of Alberto Ferrero della Marmora will be on show.

The theatre, Teatro Lirico of Cagliari, offers children and adults a unique opportunity to look behind the scenes, when it opens its curtains to the public this year. Guided tours allow to get to know the offices, workshops, technical rooms, the tailor's shop and the rehearsal rooms. Visitors will develop an understanding of the effort involved in creating the scenes we see as the final product on stage in theater productions.

The 15th edition of the dance festival, Autunno danza – Autumn dance, will take place in the theatre Teatro La Vetreria di Pirri (Cagliari). The festival was organised by Spazziodanza from Cagliari in collaboration with Cada die theatre, deja donne (PG), Caranas 108, Carovana S.M.I., ticonzero, LiberaMente and Liceo Siotto Pintor.

Taking part are: Simone Sandroni, Michele Abbondanza e Antonella Bertoni, Raffaella Giordano, Enrica Spada, Gyohei Zaitsu (Japan), Junge Ensemble am Tanzhaus (Germany), Carovana S.M.I. e Falmouth, University-Dartington and College of Arts (UK).

All performances start at 21.00, the performance on the 25th of October starts at 20.00

Piedmont Industry

The inauguration of the exhibition “Piedmont Industry. A century of work in photography.” is to be held at 18.30 on Friday 18th of September 2009 in the Arts and Culture Centre at the Castello San Michele of Cagliari.

Curated by the photographer Niccolò Biddau, the exhibition presents 100 photographs from the archive of the some of the most important Italian companies, such as: Alessi, Bialetti, De Agostini, FIAT, Lavazza, Martini & Rossi, Menabrea, Paglieri, Ponti, RAI, Saclà, Telecom Italia, Thales Alena Spazio, Vinavil, Pininfarina and Zegna.

A journey through images that demonstrate the evolution of the concept of “work” and the mode of production, which both contribute to the creation of culture.

The exhibition will stay open until the 1st of November 2009.

The exhibition Mito Mediterraneo - Mediterranean Myth, hosts about 60 artworks by Giorgio De Chirico e Aligi Sassu. Paintings, sculptures and graphics with the Mediterranean as their subject are on show. The exhibition can be visited in in Sarroch, inVilla Siotto, and runs from the 16th of September till the 1st of November 2009.

Opening times are Tuesday to Sunday from from 10 to 12 and 17 to 19 o'clock. Free entrance for Sardinian residents, minors under 12 years and schools.

DomusArt. Theatre, music and dance festival

The theatre, music and dance festival DomusArt will run till the 17th October in the ex-Casa Angioni in Quartuccio, not far from Cagliari.

The performance on the 11th of September is “Sophien Strasse“ an “installation-performance” with theatre, music, dance and video, inspired by Heinrich Böll's “The Clown” and created by Alessandro Olla.

The “Jazz Ensemble” with the double-bass player Alessandro Atzori will perform on the 12th of September.

A show with video and life electronics by Alessandro Olla called “Song Book – solos for voice”, will be performed by Alessandra Giuralongo (voice) and Francesca Massa (dance), on the 13th of September.

The festival closes on the 17th of October with a premiere, “Ora ti racconto” with Elena Ledda.. Text is by Andrea Frailis and the music by Mauro Palmas.

Performances start at 21 o'clock and entry is free.

The cinematographic circuit “Le Isole del Cinema - The Cinama Isles” returns to Sardinia with four parts, dedicated to the creative aspects of cinema. The festival will take place on the smaller Sardinian isles. The four independent festivals have been recognised as a circuit of national and international importance and have been merged into one single big cinema festival.
